Goodbye 2022
Does anyone else feel like these years are just getting faster??? 2022 came and went like it was nothin, yet it was filled with plenty of beautiful memories (and probably just as many difficult ones).
This year has taught me so much about myself. Give it up for growth!
Here are my personal top 10 highlights of the year:
No. 10: Baby’s First COVID
Not that great, but ya girl got COVID for the first time. I’m very thankful for science, it was pretty mild! It did ruin some serious plans though :(
No. 9: Jamming with Marc Rebillet and Julius Rodriguez
I can’t stress enough how amazing it is to be back with my community playing and having fun. Getting to jam with these 2 legends was such a treat! I can’t wait til y’all hear what we created.
No. 8: Getting to Play Live Shows Again!
When I tell you my soul is nourished!! I am so grateful to be getting back to live performances. There’s nothing like the energy exchange between myself and a live audience. To be able to play in front of people IRL is something I will never take for granted ever again.
Honorable mention: all these fits I popped off at my shows!
No. 7: Performing with a Live Band
2022 marked the year that I started performing my music with a live band! It’s been so much fun getting to play my music in a new way. There are so many possibilities!! I can’t wait til y’all see what we’re cooking up for 2023 ;)
No. 6: Summer Fridays at Brooklyn Bridge Park
I had the pleasure of curating 3 monthly events this summer in conjunction with the Brooklyn Bridge Conservatory. The aim was to get people out and have some child-like joy after such a traumatic couple of years. With that in mind, I gave each event a theme: Release, Restore, Rejoice. It was wonderful being able to gather with friends, especially since each Friday doubled as an opportunity to say goodbye to my incredible NYC community.
No. 5: Moving from Brooklyn to Los Angeles
After 8 and some change years as a Brooklynite, I returned to my California roots and moved to Los Angeles. It’s definitely been an adjustment, but I can’t say I mind being warm in December!
No. 4: “Stay Away (From Me)- LIVE” on Colbert’s #LATESHOWMEMUSIC
It was such an honor to be able to perform for Stephen Colbert’s online #LATESHOWMEMUSIC segment. And with this slammin’ band no less!
No. 3: It’s Been Too Long… European Tour
Can you believe it’d been 3 years since I’d been on tour??! I couldn’t. Even though it took a second to adjust to the back-to-back show/travel schedule, I was overjoyed to be back doing what I love in front of so many beautiful people. I can’t wait to keep going in 2023!!
No. 2: Corona Capital Festival
Getting to play in Mexico City for the first time was an absolute dream! It was my biggest festival to date, an accomplishment I’m incredibly proud of. I also got to rock some of my favorite outfits (all local designers) of all time! Shoutout to multiple decades of Spanish for getting me through 10 back-to-back interviews. I even pulled out a lil Selena ;)
No. 1: “Stay Away (From Me)”
The top highlight of the year, without a doubt, was releasing my single, “Stay Away (From Me).” The biggest silver lining for me personally in all of this downtime was that I learned how to produce. Being able to record, produce and release my own music has been such a major point of growth for me. This song was birthed out of so much anxiety — the unknown of the pandemic, what it meant for my career. Thank you all so much for listening to it and watching the video, it makes me so happy knowing y’all connect with my music.
You all have made all of these incredible memories possible, I’m so grateful to each and every one of you <3
Thank you all so much for sticking with me as we all continue to navigate this wild timeline. I know that the holidays can be a difficult time, I hope that you all are able to get some rest and recovery as we enter into the New Year.
There’s gonna be some awesome stuff comin for ya in 2023 — keep your eyes (and ears) peeled!
Happy Holidays!
xoxo
