Madison McFerrin is a born and bred Soul artist who combines the story telling once revered in the past with the sound of the 21st century. Currently based in Brooklyn, New York, she has spent her life cultivating her style through studying and playing.  Whether from her time at Berklee College of Music (Cum Laude, Bachelor's in Professional Music in 2014), through her years as critiquing albums on her music blog "100 Albums. 100 Weeks," or in her numerous experiences as a vocalist in varying projects, she has dedicated her life to learning from every facet music has to offer. As the co-founder of the funk/soul group Cosmodrome, she spent her college years touring the Eastern US playing venues large and small, from legendary NYC club The Blue Note, to Bonaroo, opening up for Emily King and Hiatus Kaiyote, all of which helped land the attention of notable artists such as Chick Corea and Questlove of The Roots.  She then joined the SpiritYouAll band led by her father, jazz vocalist Bobby McFerrin, as a background and featured vocalist from 2013-15 for his global tours.  It was during this time that she was invited to step in by the Queen of Soul herself, Aretha Franklin, to sing along on Pharrell's "Happy" at the Ottawa Jazz Festival in 2014. In 2012, she began working with Jarred Barnes aka ARKTKT on their hip hop/electronic project Binary Sol, releasing their debut EP Dark Matter in November 2015.  Other accomplishments include singing backgrounds for funk great George Clinton and the PFunk All-Stars, as well as for hip hop legends De La Soul backed by The Roots, both on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, and at Roots Festival in Philadelphia.  All of these accomplishments have led Madison to the present - becoming her own solo artist. With the hope of bringing old soul into the popular music of today, Madison has gone about curating her own individual sound while honoring the many influences that came before her. With the help of both her brother, future-soul producer Taylor McFerrin, and producer Softglas, she is working on her debut EP You & I (release date TBD) to make her statement as a Soul artist.
